Hit, run and caught

Police have laid several charges against a 33-year-old male who fled after his car struck and nearly dislodged a concrete hydro pole on Bloor Street East on March 29.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded out front of the Durham Hotel and Conference Centre on Bloor Street East for calls of a car that had struck a hydro pole. The driver of the car had fled the scene.

With help from the K9 unit, officers tracked the suspect to a nearby hotel where he was later arrested.

The 33-year-old of no fixed address is charged with obstructing police, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to comply, careless driving, failure to report and driving while under suspension. He was released on an appearance notice.
