Asian Heritage Month

To honour Asian Heritage Month, author Arlene Chan joins Oshawa public libraries to recognize and celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Canadians of Chinese descent. Chan will include her own family stories to illustrate history, especially those of her mother, Jean Lumb, the first Chinese Canadian woman to receive the Order of Canada. Arlene’s works include: The Chinese Community in Canada: Then and Now; Righting Canada’s Wrongs: the Chinese Head Tax; Awakening the Dragon: the Dragon Boat Festival, and many others. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Northview Branch, 250 Beatrice Street East. Books will be available for sale.
