DUI charges with kids in the car

Provincial police have charged a woman they say was driving intoxicated with children in the car.

Just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police located a car driving on Peterborough County Road 2 near Crowley Line. Officers had gone to look for the car after several 911 calls of an impaired driver.

When the vehicle was stopped, police say they found two children in the back of the car and contacted the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society. Police say the driver had four times the legal limit of alcohol in her blood when she was stopped.

A 45-year-old female of Oshawa has been charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in her blood.
