Drugs found after impaired driver call
An Oshawa man is facing several charges after drugs were found in a car.
At approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, police responded to the area of Bloor Street East and Ritson Road South after receiving a 911 call for a suspected impaired driver. Police located the suspect vehicle on Bloor Street East. Police say after the driver was arrested, a bag of narcotics was found in the car.
Police say the bag contained 364 pills and 2.4 grams of crack cocaine, along with a large quantity of cash. The pills appeared to be oxycodone, but investigators believe they actually contain fentanyl, a much more powerful drug. The estimated value of the drugs is $15,000.
A 45-year-old male of Cumberland Court in Oshawa has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
Police are reminding residents to call 911 if they see who they believe is an impaired driver.
