DRPS to hire second deputy chief
The Durham Regional Police Services Board is on the search for another deputy chief.
The force typically has two deputy chiefs, but has been operating with one since Paul Martin was promoted to the top spot in May 2014.
According to a news release, the police services board launched the search after the chief advised that the workload requires an additional deputy chief.
Chris Fernandes, currently the force’s lone deputy chief, was named to the position at the end of 2014 after 28 years with Toronto police, last serving as a superintendent there.
