Tristan DesLauriers of the 16U Oshawa Legionaires will be attending the final two events for the 2018-19 Junior All American Games.
DesLauriers attended the first event in November, which was held at the spring training facility of the Baltimore Orioles.
The next event takes place Jan. 18 to Jan. 20, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The final showcase is between Feb. 14 and Feb. 17 in Tuscon, Arizona.
“After attending the first event, I feel I will be better prepared for the remaining two events,” says DesLauriers. “I want to continue to learn and work hard. I’ll try to relax and let my ability take over.”
At the event in November, DesLauriers generated a lot of college interest and has accepted an invite to work out at Alabama State University.
“Tristan has been in the gym and cages working hard this winter. He’s seeing a lot of positive results. We have a solid core of players pushing each other right now, so the internal pressure from teammates will help keep Tristan grounded and working hard. These next couple of seasons are important for Tristan and our players,” says 16U head coach Daryl Macklem.
“We are seeing a lot of players from our elite teams getting scholarships and making college commitments in Canada and the U.S. The future is bright for players in our elite program as we continue to develop top level talent in our program,” adds Baseball Oshawa president Ken Babcock.
DesLauriers and his Legionaires teammates will be heading to Florida to play a tournament and top local high school teams during March Break.
