Cops catch clowns
Durham police found nothing funny about three teens wearing clown masks attempting to scare people.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, police responded to the area of Simcoe Street North and Taunton Road for a call about a suspicious vehicle. According to police, witnesses had called them after seeing a grey Saturn with three occupants, all wearing clown masks, stopping near cars and pedestrians in a dangerous manner. The Saturn’s two masked passengers were seen opening the car’s doors and attempting to scare people, or leaning out of the window while the car was moving.
Officers located the car, pulled it over and charged the three people inside with bylaw violations.
A 19-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with careless driving and causing a nuisance.
