Cocaine importers nabbed
Two men are facing charges after a joint effort by numerous police agencies uncovered a scheme to import cocaine into Canada from overseas.
Investigators with Durham police’s Drug Enforcement Unit, in cooperation with the Canada Border Services Agency, RCMP and law enforcement authorities in the United Kingdom, uncovered the operation.
On Thursday, Jan. 26, officers searched a home on Malaga Road in Oshawa and arrested two occupants. Police say both suspects attempted to flee, but were caught by a K-9 handler and his police service dog.
Police have seized cocaine with a street value of more than $13,000.
A 30-year-old male of Malaga Road and a 41-year-old male of Oxford Street, both in Oshawa, are each facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and importing cocaine under a kilogram.
