City, region offering residents free compost materials
The city and region are teaming up to offer free compost materials to residents.
The event will take place in the west parking lot of General Motors of Canada headquarters (1908 Colonel Sam Drive) on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine)
The compost is made of organic materials collected through the region’s curbside green bin and leaf and yard waste programs.
Residents should bring a shovel and containers to carry the compost materials.
Materials will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and are limited to four blue boxes per vehicle.
Green bins, blue boxes and backyard composters will also be available for purchase (cash only) and broken bins can be exchanged for free.
Residents are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to a local food bank.
