City receives grant for Windfield legacy
To make amends for the loss of a heritage asset, Riocan Properties has donated $15,000 to the city for further preserving the legacy of Windfield Farm.
In recent years, Harriet Cock house, which sits on Simcoe Street North and was previously a part of Windfields Farm, has been deteriorating and is now in such bad shape it must be torn down.
The land is part of a property now owned by Riocan and will be the future home of a subdivision.
Now, Riocan has donated the funds to the city to help in preserving the Windfield’s legacy in other ways.
The development services committee approved the funds to go toward the heritage display to be constructed inside the soon-to-be-completed Fire Hall 6.
