Cirelli, Vande Sompel and Studnicka invited to Hockey Canada training

Several Gens have found their names on the invite list to this summer’s Hockey Canada training camps.

Announced on June 20, forward Anthony Cirelli and defenseman Mitchell Vande Sompel found themselves invited to Team Canada’s World Junior Championship Summer Training Camp.

Cirelli is coming off a strong 2015-2016 season which saw him tally a career high in goals (21), assists (38) and points (59). While Vande Sompel led the Oshawa Generals defense core last season with 38 points. These two look to emulate past Generals who have made Team Canada’s World Junior Team, such as Eric Lindros, John Tavares, Marc Savard and Boone Jenner.

Studnicka was also invited to Team Canada’s Under-18 Training Camp for the Ivan Hinka Memorial Tournament. Studnicka represented Team Canada Red last fall in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he scored five points in six games.

“I’m always proud when you see your players recognized for their incredible hard work and dedication. Our whole organization is behind these players as I know our fans will be too,” states Roger Hunt,  vice-president and general manager of the Oshawa Generals, in a news release.
