Budget increase for transit project
The project to improve six intersections to better accommodate rapid bus transit has become more expensive.
According to a report presented to a special meeting of the finance and administration committee that took place just before regional council, the cost of work on six intersections has gone up by $1.5 million, bringing the project’s budget to $26.9 million.
The work on six intersections – three in Pickering and three in Ajax – is being done to better accommodate Durham Transit’s Highway 2 Bus Rapid Transit project.
The original budget proposals for the project were passed in 2010.
