Blue box changes for Labour Day

Changes are coming to the blue box collection schedule next week due to the Labour Day long weekend.

The Durham Region works department says the long weekend will affect curbside pickup between Sept. 7 and Sept. 12. Residents in Oshawa and Whitby will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the following day.

This means residents with collection scheduled for Monday, Sept. 7 will temporarily have their collection moved to Tuesday, Sept. 8. This shift will continue through the week with collection scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11 moved to Saturday, Sept. 12.

According to the region, blue box materials should be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of collection.
