Two arrested after string of robberies

Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of drug store robberies, including one in Oshawa.

Police say the suspects were after Fentanyl, an addictive opiate that typically comes in patch form, which were then sold.

The arrests weren’t the first time the men were chased by police, as there was also a police pursuit on Jan. 12 that was terminated due to safety concerns. On Jan. 30, following a drug store robbery in Woodville, the same vehicle was seen driving across frozen Lake Scugog in an effort to evade police.

The Oshawa robbery took place on Jan. 17 at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Simcoe Street North and Conlin Road. Police say a male suspect walked to the pharmacy counter where he produced knife and demanded to be given narcotics.

There were no injuries in the Oshawa robbery.

On Feb. 3, the first suspect was arrested at a Toronto bus terminal with a ticket to Edmonton in his pocket. According to a news release announcing the arrests, the man knew police were looking for him.

The second suspect was arrested on Feb. 5 outside of his Lindsay apartment without incident.

A 29-year-old male of Caesarea has been charged with three counts of robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, possession of dangerous weapons, dangerous driving, break and enter, theft over $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking in connection with the robberies.
