Three suspects, 101 charges over credit card fraud

Two Toronto residents and one Brampton resident are facing more than 100 charges between them after making a number of purchases on fraudulently obtained credit cards.

Durham police responded to the Canadian Tire on Gibb Street at approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 for a fraud in progress. According to police, a male suspect had obtained a store credit card at the Oshawa Centre across the street using fraudulently obtained identification, and used it to make more than $3,000 in purchases. He then drove a silver Lexus SUV across Gibb to the Canadian Tire, where he was able to obtain another credit card.

The Lexus was stopped as it was about to leave the parking lot, with the driver and two passengers being arrested. Inside the SUV, police seized two Apple MacBooks, three Apple iPhones in sealed packages, four vacuums, clothing and 28 grams of marijuana.

The three suspects, a 27-year-old male of Homecrest Trail in Toronto, a 28-year-old male of Viewcrest Circle in Toronto and a 26-year-old female of Railroad Street in Brampton, face a combined 101 charges, including possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of marijuana, possession of identity information, possession of a counterfeit mark, fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document and impersonation.
