The mystery of the UFO

Dear Editor,

Today you cleared up the big mystery for me. Last Friday night, I was just about to get into bed when I happened to look out the window. Off in the distance I could see some strange lights, which I thought strange as they weren’t very high.

I went to the balcony door hoping to get a better look, but in my room I could see the “thing” as it went over our high-rise building. It was going slower than an airplane, but I could still hear a quiet motor and I could see the undercarriage. It looked humongous and I just couldn’t figure out what was flying so low and so late at night (11:05 p.m.).

My heart was pumping a mile a minute, but after a bit I calmed down and got into bed and then I began to think, and after picturing what I saw of the bottom of it, I thought ‘was it a blimp?’

I put on the news (on TV) the next morning hoping to hear something, but not a word. I told my husband I was pretty sure today there would be something in The Oshawa Express, as last year when we saw that big plane flying around in Oshawa and the Durham Region, we questioned what a big plane like that was doing driving around over our skies, but a few days later we found out why after reading it in the newspaper from Oshawa.

Today we went to Walmart and on our way out, the picture of the Goodyear blimp on your front page caught my eye and I wasted no time grabbing a paper off the rack so I could read about it.

So, thank you for clearing up the mystery of the unusual coloured lights in the sky at 11 p.m. at night. I can now rest easy knowing it wasn’t a UFO!

I told my girlfriend who lives in Geraldton, ON about it when I was talking to her on the phone a few days later. Today, I cut out the two articles and will be sending them to her. It will brighten up her day in an otherwise dull existence!

Yours truly,
