The city has tendered a consulting contract for a new collector road in the north end.

BT Engineering Inc. has been selected to provided services for an environmental assessment (EA) for the road, which will connect Winchester Road West and Winfield Farm Drive.

The contract is for $182,900, which will include $33,000 in funding for the transportation roads development charge, reserve. (What?)

The EA was approved in the 2018 budget for $150,000.

According to a staff report, the need for the connector road is tied to increased residential and commercial development in the area, the expansion of Ontario Tech University, and construction projects on Simcoe Street.

Two proposals for the contract were received by the city on Feb. 15, 2019, with the other coming from Stantec Consulting Ltd.
