SMITH, Mary Helen (née Bowman)
Mary Helen passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Friday, July 22nd, 2016, at Fairview Lodge LTC, in Whitby ON, in her 83rd year. Mary Helen was the beloved wife and dance partner to the late Warren Smith. Loving Mother to Murray (Sharon) and Garnet (Joanne). Adored Grandma to Allison, Owen and Emma as well as loyal sister to Roland Bowman (Charlene). Mary Helen was the eldest child of the late Godfrey and Dorothy Bowman (nee Pascoe). Despite her passing, there is one absolute certainty; the earth is a far better place for having Mary Helen walk upon it for almost 83 years. Not from bold accomplishments or high profile adventures, but from a daily approach to life that left everyone she touched feel blessed for the experience. Whether it be a close friend, or family, or a passing acquaintance, Mary Helen’s kindness, selflessness, perspective, tolerance and wisdom left an lasting imprint on all who met her. Mary Helen’s world was one of hard work, of laughter, of music, of family and friends, of nurturing and growing, of listening, of animals and nature, and finding a way – no matter what – and one of hope. With this, one might say she will be missed beyond words. However, such an extraordinary person like Mary Helen lives on in the character and the goodness inside all that she graced. A service for friends and family will be held at KINGSVIEW UNITED CHURCH, 505 Adelaide Avenue East, Oshawa (at Wilson Road North) on Monday, August 8th, 2016 at 11am.
