Yard waste collection starting

Is your lawn covered in dead leaves hidden by the recently departed snow? Oshawa residents will soon be able to put out their yard waste collection once again.

For those living in Area 1, collection will start the week of April 10. For those living in Area 2, collection starts the week of April 17. Yard waste collection is collected every other week alongside garbage bags.

Residents are asked to use paper bags or clearly labeled returnable open top containers. Brush and twigs in bundles must be no longer than 1.2 metres, or four feet, long and no heavier than 20 kilos, or 44 pounds. Branches must not exceed 10 centimetres, or four inches, in diameter.

Residents are also reminded that disposing of yard waste in natural areas, green spaces and parks including woodlots, ravines and fields is not allowed.
