A former Scout leader is facing numerous sex charges from allegations dating back to 1975.
According to Durham police, the DRP Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit was called into in investigate after several adult men came forward reporting allegations of sexual assault that occurred during the decade spanning 1975 to 1985.
It was at this time that he accused was a volunteer Scout leader with the 20th Scouting troop of Oshawa. He allegedly sexually assaulted and inappropriately touched each victim during this time.
The 64-year-old of Cavendish Court in Oshawa is charged with five counts of gross indecency, five counts of assault on a male and two counts of sexual assault.
On top of being a former Scout leader, the accused also held various roles in amateur sports in Durham Region and is also a businessman in the community. Investigators are appealing to the public for other victims to come forward.
Durham Police are also thanking Scouts Canada for their assistance and co-operation throughout this investigation.
