Transit system needs to be fixed
Dear Editor,
Before I even read the paper and Mr. Arnaldo Beni’s letter to the editor, I was thinking about our transit and what must be done! Mr. Beni is right on all points save one. The transit in Oshawa is the same price as Toronto’s transit and they have a subway. We do not! I do not understand how transit in Oshawa costs the same as in Toronto and we get more crappy service than they have in Toronto! We must resolve this and soon.
Most of the time, if a person travels by bus, they can only do one thing in a day. If a person has a car available to them, a lot more can be done. I dare all of the city councillors and the mayor to put their cars away for three days and just use transit. They will soon know where of we speak!
People that have access to a car can get a lot more done in a day. We need a better transit.
If the city would put the King bus and the Ritson bus on 15-minute service, that would go a long way to helping a lot of people. I do not know about the rest of transit users, but I hate waiting a half hour for the next bus if I have just missed one! We pay enough in taxes and enough for transit. We should not be penalized because there are a bunch of incompetents that do not know how to budget the city’s money!
The Simcoe bus runs every seven minutes during the school year. Also, the 900 Pulse runs quite frequently, so there must be a need! This city better get transit together or they will find themselves without any riders!
