The NHL comes to Oshawa

The Generals normally call the Tribute Communities Centre home, but on Sept. 28, it was home to the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Islanders – two teams Oshawa hockey fans may never have another opportunity to see again.
To begin the game, the Sabres and the Islanders started out slow, only scoring one goal a piece in the first period. It looked as though it was going to be a game where both teams showed off their defense instead of their offense.
However, the second period was a different story with a total of six goals being scored, four of which belonged to the Sabres. In the end, Buffalo would take the victory 5-4.
Jeff Skinner was a highlight for the Sabres as he scored two goals, one of which he banked in off the back of Islanders netminder Robin Lehner.
Rasmus Dahlin, the first overall pick in the 2018 draft, had two points from a goal and an assist. The goal was his first as a member of the Sabres.
Anders Lee performed similarly to Skinner, scoring two goals for the Islanders.
The regular season begins on Oct. 4 for the Sabres when they play the Boston Bruins at home, and Oct. 4 for the Islanders when they play the Carolina Hurricanes in Carolina.
