Teen fires BB gun at group

An Oshawa teenager is facing several charges after firing off a BB gun at a group of people.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, a group of youth ages 8 through 18 were involved in a verbal argument near Wentworth Street West and Cedar Street in Oshawa. Police say one of the youths in the group pulled out a BB gun, and another youth fired it at multiple people.

Three males, one aged 8 and the other two 15, were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

A 14-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and one count each of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and discharging an air gun with intent in connection with the incident.

Police are reminding residents that while BB, pellet and air guns may seem harmless, they can cause injury and lead to criminal charges when used maliciously.
