Another chance to learn abroad

Students at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) will soon have an opportunity for an exchange program in another country: Turkey.
UOIT has signed an international academic student exchange agreement with Istanbul’s Bahçeşehir University.
To start, two students from each university will eligible for the exchange program. The students will pay the tuition at their home university, but still be able to enjoy the benefits of a domestic student at the host university. There may also be opportunities for work placements.
“This agreement advances the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’s growing number of global connections and recognizes the importance our university places on providing international student opportunities,” states Michael Owen, UOIT’s vice-president of research, innovation and international, in a news release announcing the partnership. “We look forward to working with Bahçeşehir University as we build this program and explore new areas of collaboration.”
The deadline for nominations and applications for the exchange program is March 15.
Like UOIT, Bahçeşehir is a newer university, with classes starting on the Istanbul campus in 1999. There are currently more than 14,000 students enrolled at the university.
The opportunity to do an exchange program at Bahçeşehir is far from the only one on tap for UOIT students, with opportunities also available for universities such as Universidade de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Linkoping University in Linkoping, Sweden; City University in Hong Kong; and Osaka University in Osaka, Japan, among others.
