Stun gun used in attempted robbery

An Oshawa man is facing several charges after a male was threatened with a stun gun in an attempted robbery.

Police were called to a parking lot at Park Road and Gibb Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2. According to police, a suspected demanded the male victim to hand over money owed to him, threatening him with a stun gun. The victim then fled into a nearby store and called police.

A responding K-9 unit was able to track the suspect down to a residence, where he was arrested.

A 32-year-old male has been charged with extortion, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and two counts of failure to comply with probation.
