Staying focused on the road

Dear Editor,

I am absolutely horrified at a commercial that I saw for the new models of Chevrolet. According to this commercial, a person can send a text by pushing just one button. This is all while you are driving and supposed to be paying attention to the road!

I did not see the entire commercial, but when it said that you could text while driving, my ears perked up! Just getting people to not use their cell phones while driving was a very large feat. In fact, there are still some people that do use their phones while driving.

The old adage that “it won’t happen to me” is passé because when you least expect it, it does happen to you!

Until we as a society criminalize the very thought of using a cell phone while you are driving, people will continue to do so. We should not be buying a car because of the gadgets. Use a car for what it was intended: to get you from point A to point B!
