Robbery charges for teens

Two Oshawa teens are facing multiple charges after a pair of armed robberies over the weekend.

The first occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7 at the lakefront at Cedar Street and Stone Street. According to police, a 53-year-old female sitting on the rocks was approached by two males carrying a gun and knife and with their faces covered. The two demanded the victim hand over her belongings. When the victim gave them her purse, the suspects fled on foot.

At 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, a 37-year-old female was approached while walking on the waterfront trail off of Cedar near Stone. Police say two male suspects, one carrying a handgun, approached her and demanded she hand over her belongings. The two fled the scene when she refused.

The suspects were spotted nearby a short time later and were arrested.

Two 15-year-old Oshawa males are facing two counts each of robbery, using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and disguise with intent. One of the teens was also charged with obstructing police and possession of marijuana.
