Region hosting Home Flood Protection webinar

Durham Region is hosting a webinar for residents on home flood protection.

Floods can happen any time throughout the year and cause costly damages, according the region, which is why they are inviting the public to attend Durham Region’s Home Flood Protection Webinar to learn how to prepare your home for a flood.

The webinar will take place on Tuesday, May 26 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Speakers for the event include: Ian McVey, manager of sustainability at the region; Clarington Fire Chief Gord Weir; Cheryl Evans, director of home flood protection at the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo; and Perry Sisson, director of engineering and field operations at Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority.

Webinar attendees will learn about climate change trends for Durham Region, including increasing flood potential, how to prepare your home and family for emergency, government and resident flooding responsibilities, simple and cost-effective things you can do to protect your home and property from and during a flood, and a question period with experts.
