Peony fest stays in top 100

Oshawa’s Peony Festival has been named as one of the province’s top 100 festivals and events for the fourth year in a row.

For the fourth year in a row, Oshawa’s Peony Festival found itself among the top 100 festivals and events in the province, according to Festivals and Events Ontario.

Along with the Peony Festival staying in the top bracket, the Woodland Disco and Glowfest, held at Parkwood as part of the Durham Festival, was the named the best new festival or event with a budget of under $100,000.

“Oshawa staff present some amazing festivals and events and I’m incredibly proud of the work they do to both highlight our city and provide interesting and exciting opportunities for our residents and visitors,” states Councillor Bob Chapman, chair of the community services committee, in a news release.

“While recognition is not the goal it is great that their work be acknowledged, many thanks for a job well done.”

This year’s Peony Festival is scheduled for June 11 and 12 at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens.
