Durham police have arrest one man and have an outstanding warrant for another in connection with a shooting in an Oshawa apartment earlier this month.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, April 4, police were called to an apartment in the area of Simcoe Street South and Elm Street. According to police, three male suspects, one of whom had a gun, forced their way inside a second-floor apartment. One of the apartment’s four occupants was grabbed, taken into another room and shot in the abdomen.

Sgt. Bill Calder tells The Oshawa Express that the victim is continuing to recover outside of hospital.

On the evening of Saturday, April 23, police located a male suspect at a motel in Courtice. According to police, a handgun that had been stolen from an Oshawa residence in 2003 was found nearby.

A 27-year-old male of no fixed address is facing 44 charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, break and enter, using a firearm during the commission of an offence and careless use of a firearm.

A warrant has been issued for Christopher Cameron, 47, of Olive Avenue. Cameron is described as a white male, five feet and eight inches tall, 174 pounds and has long brown hair, a goatee and blue eyes.

Police consider Cameron armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If he is spotted, please call 911 immediately.

Police continue to investigate the involvement of a third male in this incident.
