Nemish gets win number 500

The rivalry between the St. Clair and Durham College softball teams picked up where it left off on Sunday as each team walked away with a victory in their first meetings of the season.

The Lords defence struggled in the first game of the afternoon, allowing St. Clair to bring home 12 runs. Durham’s bats began to heat up late in the game, but ultimately fell short, losing 12-9.

Ashley Black pitched her second complete game of the season, leading the Lords to a 10-2 win in the second game of the doubleheader.

This victory marked career win number 500 for head coach Jim Nemish, who is in his thirtieth year with the program.

“It is a tribute to all the players that have been here and the success we’ve had as a team from all the coaches to all the players that have been with me during these 500 wins,” said Nemish.

“I guess 500 wins means I’ve been here too long. Today was special because we struggled in the first game, but the girls played a complete game in the second game and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Nemish currently holds a 500-163 record (.754 win percentage) during his time as head coach with Durham College.
