Motorist has gun pointed at him on Highway 401

A trio of Toronto males is facing charges after stealing a replica gun at an Oshawa store and then pointing it at a highway motorist.

At approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, Durham police were called to an army surplus store in Oshawa for a theft. According to police, three males entered the store together before fleeing after one of them stole a BB gun. Witnesses at the scene were able to record the licence plate number of the grey Honda Civic used as a getaway vehicle.

Approximately 15 minutes later, a motorist on Highway 401 reported that a passenger in a grey Honda Civic with the same licence plate had pointed a handgun at him.

Just after midnight, police in Pickering spotted the vehicle at a convenience store on Kingston Road at Whites Road. Police stopped the vehicle after it left the parking lot, and the three suspects were arrested without incident.

An 18-year-old male of Maberley Crescent in Scarborough, a 19-year-old male of Clapisson Boulevard in Toronto and a 21-year-old male of Orton Park Road in Toronto are each facing charges of uttering threats, theft under $5,000, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking.
