Mischief charges laid after bus hoax
A bus was stopped by police after receiving a call that a man with a gun was on board. However, it turns out that the call was a hoax, and an Oshawa man is facing charges as a result.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., officers from the DRPS Tactical Support Unit stopped a Durham Region Transit bus on Bond Street West after receiving a call that an armed person was on board. The bus was evacuated, with officers determining that the suspect was not on the bus.
Further investigation revealed that the call was a hoax and may be related to a similar call in Whitby the day before.
A 31-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with two counts of public mischief in connection with this incident.
