McShane, Noel among Team Canada choices

Oshawa fans may have the opportunity to see their own on one of the grandest stages of junior hockey.

Generals forwards Serron Noel and Allan McShane have been selected to Team Canada’s training camp roster for the 2018 World U18 Championships.
The tournament takes place April 19 to April 29 in Chelyabinsk and Magnitorgorsk, Russia.

Selected by the Gens in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, Noel had a breakthrough season in 2017/2018, more than doubling his point total.

He finished with 28 goals and 25 assists, and climbed to ninth overall in the NHL Central Scouting mid-term rankings.

The 6’5, 201 pound Guelph native is in his first year of eligibility for the NHL draft.

Noel was a member of the gold-medal winning Team Canada at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

McShane was acquired by the Generals from the Erie Otters in the 2016/17 season, and has been nearly a point-per-game player since.

During the 2017/18 season, he produced 20 goals and 45 assists while only drawing 16 minutes in penalties.

McShane has also appeared in the NHL Draft Rankings consistently all season, reaching 33rd overall in the mid-season list.

Team Canada will play its preliminary round in Group A facing Belarus, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
