Marigold Ford named Autofest title sponsor

For this year, Marigold Ford/Lincoln has been named as a title sponsor for the upcoming 22nd annual Autofest put on by the Motor City Car Club.
The event, slated to run August 21 to 23, will see an army of classic cars descend on Lakeview Park in Oshawa and include $5,000 in cash prizes for attendees.
Motor City Car Club President Doug Stapleton praised Marigold Ford, a long time sponsor of Autofest, during an event to make the announcement on July 14.
Marigold Ford President Terry Souch said his organization is always happy to support community events.
“This is certainly a great project to support the community, both Whitby and Oshawa,” Souch said.
However, he says it is not the sponsors that make Autofest what it is.
“What really makes Autofest great isn’t the corporate sponsors, but the volunteers that make it all happen, and that’s a real advantage in this region that we’ve got.”
The event also drew the presence of Whitby MP Pat Perkins, Whitby-Oshawa MPP Christine Elliot and Mayor of Oshawa John Henry.
Henry says that Autofest, which was originally planned as a one-time event, keeps getting bigger and better every year. He praised the work of the Motor City Car Club to bring the event to fruition each year.
“In this day and age, to have organizations step up and give time is really important and service to our community,” he said.
Autofest kicks off with a welcome party on August 21 at the Quality Inn.
