Man charged in connection to thefts from vehicles

The DRPS have arrested a 35-year-old man and charged him with theft from vehicles after a series of vehicle break-ins in Oshawa and Whitby.

On May 15 at around 4 a.m., police were called about a suspicious person attempting to break into cars around the Shenandoah Drive area in Whitby. Through further investigation, police found the same man was responsible for several other thefts from Oshawa dating back to April 2018. He also used stolen debit cards to purchase items at local stores.

The man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000, four counts of fraud, prowling at night, theft from a motor vehicle, two counts of breaching probation and possessing break-in instruments.
