By Chris Jones/The Oshawa Express

Dennis Roberts, the President of the Durham Region Association of Realtors (DRAR) has reported that there has been a decrease in residential transactions in September.

However, there has also been a rise in listings in September compared to August.

According to the report by Roberts, in September there were 773 residential transactions, compared to the 843 that were seen in August.

While the sales might have been down, the listings were up. In September there were 1,823 new listings compared to 1,466 in August, which was a 24 per cent increase.
In the report, Roberts says, “It was anticipated we would see a jump in active listings in the fall market, especially with the warm weather in September.”

The average selling price in Durham also dropped slightly in September compared to August.

In September, the average house sold for $587,009, which is down from August where the average house sold for $590,706.

“We are still experiencing a very healthy market in Durham Region and continue to be an affordable option for GTA buyers,” Roberts says in the report.

Roberts also emphasizes the importance of seeking the advice and services of a local realtor due to varying market conditions within the region.
