Learn about the world of archaeology

Back for the fifth consecutive year, the Oshawa Museum and Trent University Durham GTA are partnering to celebrate Archaeology Day with the Durham Region community.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, these local organizations will join more than 110 collaborating organizations for the Archaeology Institute of America’s, International Archaeology Day.

With lectures and hands-on activities planned, members of the public can learn more about archaeology and local excavations through interactive displays and activities; visit with representatives from the Archaeological Services Inc. (ASI) and the Ministry of Transportation 407 ETR project; explore indigenous history and culture; and listen to inspiring lectures by archaeological experts.

“If you are an excavation enthusiast, archaeology newbie, curious kid, or even an Indiana Jones fan, we are excited to share our knowledge of and passion for the field of archaeology with you,” Lisa Terech, community engagement for the Oshawa Museum stated in a media release.

Events will take place at Trent University’s Oshawa campus, 55 Thornton Road South, between noon and 3:30 p.m.

This free event is open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend. There will be interactive activities for children of all ages.
