House fire leads to drug charges

An Oshawa man faces several charges after a fire broke out at an Oxford Street home earlier this month.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, at approximately 8:10 p.m., members of Central East Division were called to assist Oshawa Fire Services at a residential apartment on Oxford Street.

The residence sustained substantial damage, and three people were transported to hospital, one with serious burns. All have since been released. The Ontario Fire Marshall was called in to assist with the investigation.

During the fire investigation a quantity of drugs were located in the residence.

A 20-year-old has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm; production of cannabis resin and possession of marijuana. He was released on a promise to appear.
