Glad for a Liberal majority
Dear Editor,
How disappointing that “the anybody but Harper” strategy backfired here in Oshawa splitting up the votes between the NDP and Liberals just enough for a Conservative win.
PC incumbent Colin Carrie subsequently acknowledged his good luck and basically vowed his continued opposition to changing the current Canada Pension Plan in keeping with his good friend ex-Prime Minister Harper’s agenda.
According to Elections Canada, 59.2 per cent of the electorate in Oshawa voted against the PC incumbent Colin Carrie to no avail, thanks to our undemocratic first past the post electoral system. The only positive outcome in all of this is that there is now a Liberal majority running Canada and Colin Carrie’s views, along with his boss Harper, on the Canada Pension Plan are essentially irrelevant.
