It didn’t take long for Oshawa’s top pick to sign on the dotted line.

Only a few short weeks after being named the Gens’ top pick in the draft, Danil Antropov has committed to the team.

“We’re excited to have Danil commit to the club so early,” states Roger Hunt, the team’s general manager, in a news release.

“(He) can now concentrate on the summer ahead, he will be able to come into camp fully prepared for the Generals’ 80th season.”

Prepared is exactly what Antropov plans to be, having previously told The Oshawa Express he plans to build strength and speed over the summer in order to ensure his name makes the starting roster for the 2016/2017 season.

“I’m going to work hard to be there next year and get my spot on the team and perform as well as I can,” he said following his first appearance in the Gens uniform at orientation camp.

Antropov, the son of former Toronto Maple Leaf Nik Antropov, is a solid right-winger who spent his minor midget years with the Toronto Marlboros. Last season, he scored 43 goals and helped with 39 assists in 63 games.

The young forward was also recently chosen to be part of the OHL Cup, which runs this weekend at the Activa Sportsplex in Kitchener.
