Fleeing the scene

Police looking for damaged truck after it fled collision scene

Police are on the hunt for a dark-coloured pick-up truck after it rear-ended another vehicle and fled the scene last month.

On June 17, at approximately 9:45 a.m. a woman was sitting in her white Mercedes on Ritson Road South near Vimy Avenue when a southbound pickup truck slammed into the back of her car. The force of the collision drove her vehicle about 75 metres across three lanes of traffic before it hit the porch of a nearby residence.

After the collision, the driver of the pickup truck drove away and was last seen travelling westbound on Olive Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The vehicle is described as a dark (possibly grey) pickup truck. It would have received substantial front-end damage. The driver is described as a male, white, about 30-40 years old.

Anyone with information that may assist with the identification of the vehicle or the driver is asked to call Cst. Gaddas of Central East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2015. Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
