Tea & Talk: The subject of the Oshawa Museum’s next Tea & Talk is one of the city’s most celebrated citizens, Verna Conant, who grew up as the spoiled heir to the E.D. Smith Fruit Company. She realized her passion for philanthropy only after she had married and had a family of her own. Museum staff will discuss what it was like to grow up in the shadow of her father and what life was like as the married homemaker of a politician in the 1920s. This event starts at 1 p.m. at the Oshawa Museum, and costs $10 per person and $5 for Oshawa Historical Society members. Reservations can be made by phoning 905-436-7624, ext. 106.
