Elderly pedestrian struck in Oshawa

An 86-year-old pedestrian is recovering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Oshawa.

On Sept. 12, just before 2 p.m., officers were called to Simcoe Street North, south of Beatrice Street, regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

An 86-year-old woman was crossing Simcoe Street when a southbound vehicle struck her a few steps from the curb. The pedestrian was thrown to the ground and received serious injuries. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene. There is no designated crosswalk in this area.
