Eight DUIs in 12 hours
Durham police had their hands full over the long weekend, laying impaired driving charges against eight people in one 12-hour span.
Between 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, and 9:25 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, DRPS received 13 calls in regards to drivers that were possibly impaired. Police were able to find and subsequently arrest and charge eight people with impaired driving charges
Of those eight charges, four came from citizens reporting a suspected impaired driver, three were the result of car crashes while the eighth came after an officer spotted an erratic driver.
Arrests were made in Oshawa, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Clarington and Scugog.
Durham police would like to remind motorists that drinking and driving will not be tolerated, and to make other arrangements to get to your destination if you have been drinking or are otherwise impaired.
