Driver charged after late night collision
A Richmond Hill man is facing several charges after fleeing the scene of an accident in Oshawa over the weekend.
At approximately 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, officers responded to a collision on Raglan Road West, just east of Thornton Road North. According to police, an eastbound Chevrolet crossed the center line and hit a westbound Lincoln before side-swiping another westbound car.
The Chevrolet’s driver, who witnesses say removed a beer from his vehicle, fled the scene on foot before police arrived. He was found an hour later by a K-9 unit on farmland near Simcoe Street and Coates Road.
There were no serious injuries reported.
A 49-year-old male of Trench Street in Richmond Hill has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding 80mg of alcohol in blood and failing to remain.
