Council stamps Genosha approvals

It’s been a long time coming, but after nearly six months of work stoppages at the Genosha Hotel, things are back on track.

At the most recent meeting of council, the new ownership agreement between Bowood Properties and owner Richard Senechal was approved by council with the same development incentives laid out last year, which total over $1.4 million.

While Bowood did not obtain full ownership of the property, as originally stipulated in the agreement with the city, under the new agreement, Bowood has purchased shares in the numbered company the owns the Genosha, which satisfied the city’s requirement.

The incentives from the Region of Durham are still to go before regional council on June 8.
