Car crash outside Lakeridge Health leaves two injured
Two people were seriously injured after a collision outside Lakeridge Health in Oshawa saw a car leave the roadway and hit a pedestrian before slamming into a concrete planter.
On Jan. 26, at around 6 p.m., police responded to reports of a vehicle that had struck a concrete planter box at 1 Hospital Court in Oshawa. Witnesses claimed that a white KIA Soul SUV was westbound on Hospital Court when it accelerated to a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued west where it left the roadway and struck a large concrete planter box on the centre median.
The 21-year-old female driver from Oshawa was seriously injured in the collision and was transferred to a Toronto trauma centre. She was listed in serious but stable condition.
A 28-year-old male pedestrian who was standing nearby was also struck and injured by the vehicle. His injuries were non-life threatening.
Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
