Busy year for home sales

Last year was a banner year for the Durham Region Association of Realtors.

According to a news release from the organization, 11,848 residential transactions took place in 2015, a 9.3 per cent bump from the year before.

“The number of new listings was only up three per cent in 2015 compared to 2014 as w hole,” states Sanra O’Donohue, the association’s president. “The high number of sales compared to a lower number of listings created a substantial amount of demand within the market.”

Prices were up too, with the association reporting the average selling price of a home in Durham Region in 2015 was $442,082, up from $391,692 the year before.
