Body found at Oshawa Harbour

By Joel Wittnebel/The Oshawa Express

Railworkers at the Oshawa Harbour made a grizzly discovery on Sunday evening, finding what appeared to be the body of a male in his 20s.

The Durham Regional Police cordoned off the scene around 5 p.m. on May 15 and the Coroner’s office was brought in for a preliminary examination.

The body has since been sent to the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to determine the cause of death. According to a news release and DRPS spokesperson Bill Calder, signs of trauma were found on the body.

“The trauma that they spotted on the body was enough to say it should go to the forensic centre,” Calder says, noting it is too early to speculate on further details. “It’s just too early to even go any further with what we put out there,” he says.

Results of the test are expected back later today from the forensic centre in Toronto

More details to come.
